NPX: What got you interested in photography?
Nelson: My Brother Kelvin and my Sir KH Loh.
NPX: How long have you been doing photography?
Nelson: Since year 2001
NPX: What's your favourite genre of photography? (eg. nature/portraits/landscapes/abstracts)
Nelson: Nature
NPX: Who are your photographic influences?
Nelson: My Brother Kelvin
NPX: What kind of stuff do you put in your camera bag?
Nelson: Canon 40D + 1.4X, 500mm F4L IS, CF Card, Digital storage, Flash, Flash Bracket, Extension Tube, Camouflage cloth and other small gear....
NPX: What's the most challenging aspect of shooting your favourite genre of photography?
Nelson: Finding the target (Bird), shutter speed and flash control.
NPX: What advice would you give someone who is interested in picking up your genre of photography?
Nelson: Go for outing with the seniors and post in a forum for C & C.
NPX: How does your family feel about your passion for photography ?
Nelson: OK, as long as I don't go out to shoot every day.
NPX: Describe your worst, followed by the best photography experience you encountered while out in the fields.
Nelson: The best is in the same day I got the Chestnut Naped Forktail feeding chick shots, on the way back another beautiful Blue Winged Pitta with worm in the beak and both shots were full frame, The worst was when I setup for the Common Kingfisher for the first time, both of my legs got sucked in the mud for half an hour and it was getting dark without anyone to help me out but finally I managed to get off from the mud and back home with my legs full of dirty mud and zero shots.
NPX: If you have to choose TWO favourite photos which you have taken, which will they be? Reasons?
Nelson: I will choose the CN BeeEater, it is not rare but to capture the rare post with three of them looking to one side is not easy.
The reason for the Javan Frogmouth is that this is a super rare bird as what people said, and I was blessed with the opportunity to shoot the family together ... male, female and chick...
